Remember the garlic I planted a few weeks ago?
All 14 cloves have sprouted! That’s 100% germination! From a grocery store bulb of garlic, no less. I expected sub-par germination from this garlic because supposedly garlic from the supermarket is treated with germination inhibitors to keep it from sprouting in the store. Either this bulb wasn’t treated, or the inhibitors don’t work very well.
It’s normal for no growth to be seen from garlic until early spring, but if it sprouts in the fall, that’s okay too. The sprouts should be able to tolerate our relatively mild winters just fine.
