Update on the Chervil

Remember the chervil I planted a week or so ago (10 days ago to be exact) to use in a soup recipe?

Hmmm….not looking good. But upon closer inspection……

A chervil seedling!! Its cotyledons are still trapped in the seed hull, which is why it looks a little funny. I didn’t want to try to pull off the seed hull for fear of damaging the leaves, but it looks like a healthy seedling to me.

Still, the germination rate is not great for this pot. I’m going to hedge my bets and start some more chervil. This time, instead of using potting soil mixed with garden soil as I did the first time, I’m going to use a lighter weight seed starter mix.

Perhaps the small seeds will have an easier time germinating in this.
