I’m Marie, a pathologist by day, and dreaming of my someday garden by night.
I started this blog while living in a daylit basement apartment with three moderately sunny window sills in Seattle, WA. I’m currently living in California for fellowship training, but will move this coming summer back to the Pacific Northwest. Over the last decade, I’ve lived in four different states. My current home has a shared garden space in the backyard. With fruit trees, shade, and dry soil. I’ve tried growing vegetables in a small plot with mediocre results at best.
I hope to have a more permanent home with ample space to garden in the not-too-distant future, but in the meantime I’m documenting the process from gardenless to gardener on this website. I’m a planner by heart, always thinking about the next steps, the next life goal to tackle. This site serves as a consistent place for me to grow creatively and organize my thoughts about gardens.
I also want to use this site to preserve memories and track changes. My mom used to say to me John Lennon’s quote “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.” I’ve spent the last decade working towards goals that were in the distant future. Sometimes I get so caught up in dreaming about what my life will be like in 5, 10, or 20 years that I fail to realize how good life is right now.
Thanks for joining me here. I’d love to connect with you. I know I’m not the only millennial who’s got the gardening bug (we’re a bit cliche aren’t we?). I hope to connect with and learn from the many amateur and expert gardeners out there. You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
